We all know it - it's a beautiful late summer day and we're eating our chocolate ice cream with relish. Enjoyable, however, only until the first wasps come. The fear of the puncture is great and the constant buzzing around the delicious food is annoying. But this is where our beloved lavender comes into play, because wasps love sweets, but they do not love lavender.

The aromatic smell of lavender is simply too intense for the wasp. The lavender in the garden or on the balcony is therefore a good protection against wasps, since the flowering time of the lavender falls during the wasp season. It should be noted, however, that there are different types of lavender with different intensities of essential oils. Real lavender, Lavandula angustifolia, is intensive and therefore good against wasps.
